Anke Completes Her Cycle Challenge
Congratulations to Anke for finishing her Cycle Challenge – completing 2680 miles for our charity!
Our Care & Support/Workshops team member Anke embarked on an epic cycle challenge to cycle 2680 miles in aid of Camphill MK.
Inspired by the Eurovelo6 Cycle Route from the Atlantic Coast to the Black Sea, Anke has been spotted all over Milton Keynes cycling as if she were cycling through Europe, her original plan before the pandemic.
The eagle-eyed amongst you will spot that instead of the Black Sea, she clocked up the miles around Willen Lake and beyond.
Anke told us, “Thank you to all who have supported me by following my virtual(!) journey; by liking, sharing and commenting on my posts; and sponsoring my fundraising page for Camphill MK. You have definitely helped me stick to my goal.”
Anke has not pushed the fundraising side very much because she knows that times are tough and that many good causes are vying for financial support. But if you can donate, it will be much appreciated here!
Here are a few fun facts from Anke’s challenge:
* Anke gave herself a year for the challenge but finished it in under six months.
* She cycled 2682 miles in 173 days. That’s an average of 15.5 miles per day!
* Her favourite Thursday route started in Wolverton and followed the Old Railway Walk, then went through Great Linford Park, around both Willen Lakes, past the OU, around Caldecot Lake, through Simpson, past the hospital, past Furze Lake, to Howe Park Wood (for a coffee break), around Loughton Lake and back to Wolverton – and that was very often before breakfast!
* She cycled most miles in and around MK but got as far as Stratford-upon-Avon and St Neots.
