The Park’s Trust’s Love Wetlands Day

We were thrilled to be a part of The Park’s Trust’s Love Wetlands Day on Friday 21st August.

The fun-filled afternoon was all about discovery and celebrating nature. Together, we celebrated 10 years of the Floodplain Forest Nature Reserve and the ongoing Wetland Arc project!

Camphill MK had a stall with our Bakery, Tools, Gardens, Pottery, Arts & Crafts & Weavery workshop goodies. We created a Wetlands Celebration Cake, and exhibited our photography, ceramics, willow items & pom poms curtains as part of the Tree Gallery Exhibition.

For the exhibition, we studied the wetlands, and our concept focused on attention rather than photographic perfection. We all walked through the same landscape, but we did not all notice the same things. These photographs are moments of attention— a bird, a movement, a reflection, a place of shelter, something growing quietly beside the water.

The Wetlands Celebration Cake

Our cake design was a simple rectangular carrot cake inspired by the natural wetland landscape. It features woodland-themed elements displayed on the presentation board, including reeds and grasses, decorative twig birds, moss clusters, woodland nests, a woven twig-effect border, and seasonal edible flowers.
The overall design creates a striking and memorable focal point that celebrates the beauty and biodiversity of the wetlands while showcasing Camphill MK Communities’ creativity and craftsmanship.

On the Day

The pieces looked absolutely amazing and, with their unique character and creativity, certainly caught people’s attention. But the best part was seeing how proud our residents were to see their own creations on display.
A huge well done to everyone involved, and a very special thank you to our wonderful Craft Workshop team for all the hard work, creativity and support that went into making this possible.

Volunteer Recognition

We would also like to highlight the amazing work and support provided by all the volunteers on the day. A special thank you to Caroline West, Caroline Saunders and her husband Rod, Asif, Nikita’s daughter, Fernando, and Brad from The Parks Trust, who is a tree expert and the Wetlands caretaker.
Their time, energy, expertise and willingness to help made a huge difference. Without these additional hands and the collective effort of everyone involved, we simply could not have achieved what we did.
