Festive Cheer at Camphill MK

It’s December, the most festive month of the year, and our community is already full of cheer!

Here’s what our gang has been up to this festive season.

Alan’s Kindness By Post Project

Our resident Alan helped Anke, our support worker, to make a card for the Kindness By Post project. It will be sent to a complete stranger to spread a little joy and kindness this winter.

Festive Gardeners

With the Festive season fast approaching, our Gardens Workshop has been collecting natural materials to transform into decorative wreaths for sale and to brighten up our workspace on dull days. Anthony, Tracy, Shirley and Anke worked together to make this big wreath for their office door.

Whitethorn Christmas Festive Decorations

There was so much joy in Whitethorn today! The gang spent the day getting the house ready for Christmas. They decorated two Christmas trees, dressed up the windows, and added festive touches in dozens of places around the house. And of course, creating quite a mess along the way. Thankfully, they live with someone who absolutely loves vacuuming — Leigh saved the day.

Leigh Christmas

Jenny and Becky were so lucky to receive an early Christmas present from “Leigh Christmas”. They absolutely love their new Christmas hats!

Blackthorn Festive Decorations

Blackthorn House has been busy decorating for Christmas.

Soltane House really enjoyed decorating their Christmas tree!

Becky’s Christmas Wreath

Becky has worked so hard creating this beautiful Christmas wreath to hang on the door of her house. It was originally going to be made into one of her many pom-poms, but instead she had the brilliant idea of making it into a wreath!

Say hello to Marky Christmas!

Dick Whittington on Ice

Here are some photos of the Willow and Sunwood House’s trip to see ‘Dick Whittington on Ice’ at Planet Ice. They had a lovely time!

A Christmas tree decorated with pom-poms? Why not!

It took plenty of wrapping, cutting, and a fair bit of mess, but this tree is now wonderfully colourful and truly one of a kind. With a little more TLC and some lights, it will soon be standing proudly in its spot for everyone to admire!

Applewood House Festive Meal

Applewood House has a fab Christmas meal together, with good food, good company and lots of singing and giggles.

A Painted Tree

Amy and Chris collaborated on painting a tree. Amy painted a tree, and Chris painted the rest, then he glued all together to produce a 3D Christmas tree. Very nice!

Polar Express Experience

Rob had a brilliant day on the Polar Express Experience. There was the conductor, actors in the decorated steam train and Father Christmas made an appearance too!

Mike Woodhams Christmas Show

Some of our Blackthorn House residents had a magical evening at the Mike Woodhams Christmas Show at our Chrysalis Theatre MK. It was lovely to meet Mike at the end of the show and get his autograph.

A Camphill Festive Community Celebration

We were so lucky to come together for a big, community-wide festive celebration. Christmas is a truly magical time – a time most of us look forward to all year round.

The whole community, including residents, service users, care staff, volunteers, and workshop teams, came together to celebrate in true Camphill style.

We enjoyed a delicious cold Christmas buffet and our drama group’s Christmas show, with communal singing and merriment.

After, we received a visit from Santa! Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our donors, Great Brickhill WI, who have been collecting since September and from Lush MK, who donated over 100 items. Everyone received a small gift, bringing lots of happiness and festive cheer. Santa didn’t come alone; he brought his wife with him, and his reindeer bravely stood guard, even though he was clearly tired after such a long journey! Our Santa also turned out to be quite a chatty guest – almost like the real one.

After that, we enjoyed our Christmas Disco, finishing the day with music, dancing, and festive fun for the whole community.

What an amazing day! Thanks to everyone who came along, but especially all those dedicated individuals who made it happen.

Thank you to:

  • The Drama team for keeping us entertained with wonderful performances
  • The houses for keeping us fed with a beautiful, cold buffet
  • Santa and the fundraising team for their presents
  • Tom for DJ-ing
  • Oliver as Tom’s support DJ
  • Jonny and Marcin for helping at the bar, Trina for helping at the door
  • Maria and the Bakery team for gorgeous bread and puddings
  • Those who helped Tom set up for the evening, Lucy and the drama team, their help was much appreciated
  • Care colleagues, especially Rachel, for helping with set-up, drinks and serving
  • All of those who helped move tables, chairs and the turnaround of the building
  • Julia, for helping with organisation and decorations, and for staying for the whole event
  • And last but not least, our excellent Activity Lead, Ewa, for coordinating the event

Christmas Carols at the Tree Cathedral

The Whitethorn House gang went to the Christmas Carols at The Park’s Trust Tree Cathedral. We listened to a story shared by our wonderful Terrie, enjoyed mince pies fresh from Camphill, had coffee, and sang Christmas carols together.
