Newport Pagnell Carnival 2025
Every year, we get very excited about the Newport Pagnell Carnival – the biggest and longest-running carnival in the MK area.
Our Craft Workshop has been working very hard on the costumes for the carnival again this year. The theme for 2025 is “Carnival Tells a Story”, and our team has thoughtfully selected several fairy tales to explore.
The day was amazing! With a great turn out in the community. We collected £231.67 and won 1st place for our float! Which was amazing and recognition for all the hard work.

Big thanks to Chris Gilchrist from S W Wreford Group for allowing him to do the float this year. We couldn’t have done it without them!

About the costumes
The focus is on understanding the original stories, their morals, and how they connect with life at Camphill. After introducing three different stories, our participants chose “Jack and the Beanstalk.” This tale highlights themes of courage, ambition, and the consequences of choices. Through Jack’s journey—facing challenges and taking risks to achieve success—our participants can reflect on their own experiences. Some of them, for example, have shown a desire to become more independent and make life-changing decisions, such as moving to Camphill. Like Jack, they face challenges and risks but also opportunities for growth and transformation.

We are also very thankful from the support of volunteer groups and two student placements who are helping us this project. A group from Hughes Network Systems Ltd joined us on 25th June to help paint banners and decorations for the float. They also donated £100 to cover the cost of materials. We also received a donation of paints, brushes, and pens, among other items, from Tesco RDC at Kiln Farm, worth £87. Another group from the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) also came on 3rd July to decorate the float. We’re really thankful for all their help! And another big thanks to the Mayor of Milton Keynes, James Lancaster, for supporting us during the event.
Below is a behind the scenes of the costumes in the making.
