The Plot:
It is 1976, and free love and the dawn of celebrity are upon us. Heath Lloyd is a renowned celebrity chef. He is known for his cheeky, fun-loving approach to cooking, his successful TV cooking show, and his numerous cookbooks. Unfortunately, his last cookbook flopped, and his TV contract wasn’t renewed. The pressure is on for his latest cookbook to be a success and reignite his fame and fortune. Tonight is the launch party, and tensions are high. His new cookbook must be a success or his whole career, and celebrity lifestyle could go down the pan. Does he even care? Many people need it to succeed, including important guests at the book launch: his ex-wife, his lover, his longtime sous-chef, and other key figures from his business. There are high stakes for multiple reasons.
Seasoned with strong characters, spiced with fruity revelations and a main course of murder! Everyone has a beef.
Someone couldn’t cut the mustard. And one-party guest clearly wanted a bigger slice of the action.
Brought to you by:
Milton Keynes Theatre of Comedy: MKTOC was formed in 2003. Their aim is to put on comedy productions of the highest possible standard. In recent years, they have specialised in producing stage adaptations of well-known and popular TV comedies, bringing our audiences some of the best comedy ever written, and we continue to explore opportunities to adapt further classics for the stage.
Die Laughing: Their performers dress in costumes appropriate to the plot or theme. They focus on comedy and entertainment. They do not work to a script. The characters have their backstories, motives and arguments worked out beforehand, but the action during the event is mainly improvised – allowing full interaction. Following grisly murders, solution forms are filled in by the guests, with prizes for the most accurate and most amusing solutions.
