New Extension Thanks to the Big Give Campaign
Thank you to everyone who donated to our Big Give campaign last December. Your generosity, combined with that of three trusts — the Anson Charitable Trust, Old Possums Practical Trust, and The Reed Foundation — pledged to double the difference and match-funded your donations, enabling us to raise a whopping £34,000.
Our plans to create extensions to existing homes for our residents to have the space to live comfortably have already begun. Extensions to the existing homes within the Camphill MK Community will transform the growing houses, allowing us to continue addressing the long waiting lists for adults with disabilities to have a permanent home.
The funds raised have already enabled us to expand one of our houses at Willen Park. We have chosen the Leka Xi Modular Extension from We-Fit. Typically installed on either concrete pads or structural ground screws, the LEKA Xi saves time, mess and stress. Carefully engineered by LEKA, the Xi reduces customer lead times, improves efficiency and reduce the need for heavy ground works.

At Margaret Powell House, we have started work with the ground screws being installed. Ground screws (footings) have been installed into the garden and block paved area outside the MP kitchen. We have chosen not to excavate or pour concrete for environmental reasons.

The base and walls construction has begun! We’re still in awe at how quickly the extension can be built.

Great progress being made with the MP House extension. The foofing structure and insulation went up, floor insulation was added and boarded. The double-glazed doors and windows went in and the first layer of wall insulation was also installed. Now we await electrics, plasterboard, roof covering and brick cladding.

At Margaret Powell House, the experts have out in the wiring in place and the plaster-boarding being carried out. Not long now until the extensions is fully operational offering residents more space in their houses.

Plastering and second fix of electrics has been carried out at MP House. We’re very excited about the progress!
22nd July

After an unforseen delay, we are back on track with the MP House extension. The brick cladding is in on the exterior, and it’s looking fantastic. We are awaiting finishing trims around the top, resin joint where the panels meet and finish of the guttering and downpipes. Inside we have had wooden skirting fitted and the flooring will be going down any day now.
23rd July

The internal flooring all complete. We’re almost there!
14th August

The MP House extension is finished! We will use the space to free up the current tired dining room and lounge to allow us to freshen it up and once they are moved back we will then see how the residents want to furnish it long term.
