Public Defibrillator Available at Camphill MK
We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to local councillors Sam Crooks and Paul Trendall and Sads UK, the Milton Keynes community can now access our defibrillators at our Willen Park and Pennyland sites.
The defibrillators are registered with the ambulance service and a National Defibrillator Database and will help to save lives! At Willen, the cabinet is located outside our Café and at Pennyland, to the left of the front doors of the Tools for Self Reliance workshop.
Great Brickhill WI visited our Café late last year after a walk around Willen Lake. They were so impressed with our community that they decided they would like to support us. They promptly invited our fundraising superstar Carolyn to talk about all things Camphill.
During the interaction between Carolyn and the WI group, Caroline told us she was involved with a cardiac charity as a cardiac arrest survivor and could help us make our defibs publicly available. Caroline put us in touch with Sads UK, who provided us with one reduced-price cabinet and one cabinet free of charge.
They are accessible to the public anytime, day or night and are now on the national register, which is great as our community backs onto a busy walking/cycling route. Upon calling 999, the operator can give the caller access to the defibrillator and guide them through its use.
Thanks to Lane Electrical Services for installing the cabinets (pro bono) on both sites, including electrics, a heating unit, and an alarm.
This project demonstrates how a number of partners came together to help us provide support for both our own community and the wider MK community. A big thank you to all of them.
