Christmas at Camphill MK

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

As the countdown to Christmas begins, we have been busy little elves feeling festive at every turn. Here’s the latest from Camphill MK!

Adorable Snowmen

Pennyland has four new residents! Four adorable snowmen made from socks and grains. Residents enjoyed making them, and we think that they look very festive.

Waddesdon Manor Visit

Lucie, Anna, and Ewa visited Waddesdon Manor to admire the beautiful Christmas decorations and lights surrounding the house and grounds. The park surrounding the manor looked absolutely magical. We also explored the Christmas Market and walked 3.54 miles!

Loo Roll Decorations

Our residents have been collecting empty loo rolls for months, planning to turn them into wonderfully festive decorations. We love them!

Craft Gnomes

Pennyland residents created a delightful collection of winter gnomes who will make their permanent home in the house. Made from wool, string and wooden buttons, they are rather charming.

Jumper Jaunt

To really kick off the festivities this December, we took part in our annual Christmas Jumper Jaunt. Joined by the public, supporters and the award-winning Redway Runners who volunteered their time and expertise to help organise the routes.

Everyone took to the red ways in a 5km run and a 1-mile walk, followed by much-needed hot chocolate and mince pies. All runners also received a handmade medal made by our pottery team. The Mayor of Milton Keynes launched the event and said some lovely words, and we want to thank all the brilliant volunteers and, of course, the festive jaunters.

Arts and Crafts Workshop Christmas Tree

Sarah and ‘Becky-the-Reindeer’ helped decorate the Christmas tree in the Arts and Crafts Workshop, including some residents’ decorations!

Christmas Card Making

JT had a great time making Christmas cards! We hope we get one.

Amy’s Lino Prints

Amy had a go at Lino Printing in our Art and Craft Workshop. She used one of her writing papers to print her friend’s Christmas tree design and was very pleased with the result.

Christmas Tree Decorating

It’s begining to look like Christmas in Soltane House! Peter and Ben helped to decorate their Christmas tree and really enjoyed it. It’s a very colourful tree! We love it.

Christmas Tree Festival at Midsummer Place

Midsummer Place is again running its Christmas Tree Festival community initiative that gives local organisations a unique chance to sponsor their own Christmas tree on the mall to support charities.

Our clever and crafty workshop attendees have been busy making their very own festive decorations to adorn the 6ft tree. The textile decorations have been made from scraps of handwoven material from our Weavery Workshop.

The votes will be counted at the end of December. The winners will receive a prize donation for their nominated charity in January. The prizes include 1st place: £1,750, 2nd place: £1,050 and 3rd place: £700.

Land of Lights

We were so lucky to have been invited to see this year’s Land of Lights Lantern Festival at Gulliver’s Theme Park Resorts. Our residents loved the experience. We walked a lot, talked, and admired the spectacular light installations. It was truly worth a visit!

Grinch Cookies

Natasha and Charlotte had a blast decorating their Grinch cookies and getting in the festive spirit! They had a bit of a sprinkle mishap, but no Grinches were harmed while making the cookies.

Gift Wrapping

Becky was thrilled to wrap all the presents she bought for her family. We think she did a great job!

Christmas Gonks

Paddy and Jenny spent an afternoon working together, making Christmas gonks in pottery! They are adorable!

Festive Shopping at Centre MK

Stephen and Alex shared their support time and went to MK shopping centre for some Christmas shopping. From the wide smiles, we think that they enjoyed the festive decorations more than the shopping.

Eddy’s Ceramic Christmas Decorations

Eddy made some fabulous festive Christmas decorations in our Ceramics Workshop. His smile suggests he’s rather pleased with them.

Weavery Snowman

The Weavery Workshop had some fun in the snow, creating ‘Snowy the Snowman with real snow!

Oberlin Christmas Tree

Oberlin House had lots of fun decorating their Christmas tree and listening to Christmas songs.

Becky’s Christmas Tree

Becky worked super hard on her ceramic Christmas tree in our Pottery Workshop. We think that it looks terrific!

Stony Stratford Lights Switch-On

Sunwood House residents went to see the Stony Stratford Lights Switch-On. Jaye and Stephen were accompanied and met up with Terrie (the Town Crier for the evening), The Grinch and several friends who recognised the guys.  We also saw Slavka and her family walking in the parade, displaying their brilliant, stripey puppet lantern!

They enjoyed their tea/coffee and cake in the church and did some Christmas shopping at the stalls.

Funky Club Making Christmas Cards

Our regular Funky Clubbers got into the festive spirit by making Christmas cards, playing a lively bingo game, and planning their Christmas celebrations.

Whitethorn Christmas Preparations

Whitethorn House residents have been very busy with their Christmas preparations. As the photos suggest, they had so much fun.

Kirtlington House Christmas Tree

Kirtlington House residents enjoyed listening to festive songs and decorating their Christmas tree. Felix helped to choose the Christmas lights and then decorate the house and our tree. Fantabulus work!

Groovy Gecko

Our residents enjoyed another great night out at Groovy Gecko. The last one this year, they will meet again in February 2025.

Father Christmas Visit

Tamsin and Lucy went to visit Father Christmas at Lovat Fields. Look how happy they are!

MP House Festive Outing

Residents from MP House had a great day out at the Centre:MK enjoying the festive train ride surrounded by lovely lights and decorations.

Christmas Lunch & Party

We had a fantastic Christmas lunch and party for our community. Everyone got together in the spirit of the festivities. Residents got to meet Santa but we were shocked to see The Grinch, who gate-crashed the festivities! Our residents rather enjoyed that, so perhaps he’s not as bad as everyone thinks.

Christmas Silent Disco

Our Christmas Silent Disco at The Chrysalis Theatre MK was so much fun!

Our discos are slightly different from our usual booming discos but, instead, more inclusive of those with other sensory needs.

Silent Disco features:

  • Sensory-Friendly Atmosphere: Wireless headphones allow residents to control their audio levels, creating a comfortable and personalised experience. This minimises sensory overload and ensures everyone can enjoy the music without overwhelming stimuli.
  • Inclusive Participation: Silent Discos foster an inclusive environment by offering residents the choice to dance or enjoy the music at their own pace. It encourages diverse forms of participation, making it an accessible and enjoyable experience for everyone.
  • Social Connection: By removing the reliance on traditional loudspeakers, Silent Discos provide a quieter, more intimate setting, fostering social interactions. This setup allows residents to engage in conversations and connect with others without the challenges often associated with noisy environments.

Santa Cruise

Our residents took the Boat Inn Santa Cruise!
It was incredibly joyful! Everyone was so happy, and it was a pleasure to see. What a day it was! There was so much laughter and joy in such a short time! Santa and his elves kept us company throughout the journey, and there was no shortage of coffee, mince pies, and gifts. Thank you to Roy, Kelsie, and Amanda for their support on the day.

Gingerbread House

Natasha was very proud of making her very own gingerbread house with support from Charlotte. They say it was harder than it looks, so we’re very impressed! It looks fantastic and tasty.

Festive Table Decorations

Sunwood House has been busy making Christmas table decorations from natural materials such as Christmas tree cut-offs and holly. They also adorned the table-piece with fairy lights and baubles. It looks great!

Ellie Goes Christmas Shopping

Ellie enjoyed her support time doing some Christmas shopping and loving all the christmas decorations! Its the most wonderful time of the year.
