Recognition at Buckingham Palace

Two of our team members were recently recognised for their hard work with an afternoon at Buckingham Palace: our very own CEO, Tim Davies, for his exceptional work within the disabilities field at Camphill MK, and our Head of Development, Lucy Davies, for her work supporting the creative sector in voluntary pursuits.

Tim was invited to attend by Countess Howe, the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, having been recognised for being an exceptional leader within the disabilities field.

Tim’s impact on Camphill Milton Keynes since he joined has been significant, creating a financially strong organisation, expanding the employed staff team from less than 15 to 130, turnover from £2 to £4.5m, diversifying his team and board to be more inclusive and representative of the community served, and alongside his management team increasing the number of adults with disabilities supported from 38 to over 70.

In 2016, Tim initiated a plan to double the number of adults with disabilities supported, addressing the significant number of vulnerable individuals on waiting lists for a place within a supportive community. With this £15m ambition, Tim has again expanded the team with design-build specialists and in-house fundraising and marketing leads.

In addition to his astute leadership of Camphill MK, Tim brings together a network of 30 Camphill settings to share best practice across England and Wales. He is a champion and leader of MK Disability Awareness Day, Chair of the MK DAG (Disability Advisory Group), is the voluntary and community sector representative to the Strategic – Health and Wellbeing Partnership and a member of many voluntary sector networks in MK.

Tim always puts his staff team first, offering them praise and recognition for their work. It was recognised that this was his time to be celebrated.

Lucy’s recognition is a testament to her commitment to the wider community. In addition to her role at our charity, she has dedicated her time and efforts to support the creative sector. She is chair of dance charity MÓTUS and trustee of a local brass band. Her voluntary work, supported by Camphill MK, also included her role as a Goodwill Ambassador to the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire (Dame Ann Limb CBE DL) over the past year, has been invaluable.

We are all very proud of their achievements and feel very fortunate to have them by our side, championing our charity to ensure that more people with learning disabilities and autism can live fulfilling, creative and enriched lives.
